Descriptive gazetteer entries

In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Portobello like this:

PORTOBELLO, a village in Willenhall township, Wolverhampton parish, Stafford; on the Birmingham, Walsall, and Wolverhampton railway, 2 miles E of Wolverhampton. It has a station on the railway, and a post-office under Wolverhampton.

This is the only descriptive gazetter entry we have found, but you may be able to find further references to Portobello by doing a full-text search here.
