Terling par. and vil., Essex, on Ter rivulet, 3½ miles W. of Witham and 6½ miles NE. of Chelmsford, 3228 ac., pop. 850; P.O.; Terling Place, once a palace of the bishops of Norwich, is the seat of Lord Rayleigh; Roman coins have been found.
