In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Fulham like this:

Fulham, parl. bor. and par., Middlesex, in W. of London, 1716 ac., pop. 42,900; Fulham returns 1 member to Parliament; it was made a parl. bor. in 1885. Fulham Palace is the residence of the Bishop of London.
