PEEL PIER, a harbour in the N W of Lancashire; at the extremity of Low Furness peninsula, 6 miles S by E of Dalton. It is situated on an islet called Peel Island, but is connected with the mainland by a causeway; and it has a railway station with telegraph, at the terminus of a branch-line of the Furness railway, coming from the Dalton station, and traversing the causeway.
