Portisham, par. and vil. with ry. sta. (Portesham), Dorset, in S. of co.- par., 4540 ac., pop. 705; vil., 6 miles SW. of Dorchester; P.O.; on an eminence near the vil. is a tower to the memory of Admiral Sir Thomas Hardy (1769-1839), a native of the par., who served with Nelson.
