Kirkby Ireleth, par., township, and vil., N. Lancashire, on Dutton estuary--par., 27,058 ac. (1278 water), pop. 3192; township, 9702 ac. (883 water), pop. 1722; vil., 4½ miles NW. of Ulverston; P.O., called Kirkby in Furness; in vicinity of vil. is the seat of Kirkby Hall; on Kirkby Moor are quarries of excellent slate; cockle-fishing is carried on.
