OAKLEY, a village and a parish in Hartismere district, Suffolk. The village stands ¾ of a mile S of the river Waveney at the boundary with Norfolk, 1 mile E of the Roman road to Norwich, 2¼ S E by E of Diss r.station, and 2½ N by E of Eye; and has a letter-boxunder Scole. The . ...


parish comprises 1, 288 acres. Real property, £2, 304. Pop., 332. Houses, 47. The manor, Oakley Park, and nearly all the property belong to Sir E.Kerrison, Bart. Oakley House is the residence of Admiral Sir B. W. Walker, Bart. The living is a rectory, annexed to the rectory of Brome, in the diocese of Norwich. The church stands on an eminence, ½ a mile from the village; and consists of nave and chancel, with a tower. There are town-lands yielding £22 a year.
