In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Foxhall like this:
FOXHALL, a parish in Woodbridge district, Suffolk; on an affluent of the river Deben, 2¾ miles SSW of Bealings r. station, and 4¼ E by S of Ipswich. Post town, Bucklesham, under Ipswich. Acres, 1,872. Real property, £1, 574. Pop., 190. Houses, 43. Some of the land is heathy; but a few acres are under hops. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the vicarage of Brightwell, in the diocese of Norwich. There is no church.
