In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Edgehill like this:

Edgehill, hill-ridge, on S. border of Warwickshire, 3 miles SE. of Kineton; on the northern slope was fought (1642) the battle of Edgehill, the first encounter between Charles I. and the Parliament.
