In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Millaton like this:

MILLATON, a seat in the W of Devon; in the western vicinity of Bridestow, 7 miles SW of Okehampton. It belongs to J. G. Newton, Esq.; and contains a fine collection of stuffed birds, including rare specimens obtained on Dartmoor.
