In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Dyfnant like this:
DYFNANT, a village in Garth parcel, Ystradgynlais parish, Brecon; 8½ miles NNE of Neath.
The location is that of Abrecraf village. The name Dyfnant has not been found on a topographic map, but various sources associate it with Abrecraf. One is Google Maps, searching for "Dyfnant Ystradgynlais", but more reliably various papers relating to the Abercraf Estate mention Dyfnant (West Glamorgan Archive Service, D/D SB 4: Gwyn Estates: http://www.swansea.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=29539; accessed 16/2/2011).
