In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Bodnod like this:

Bodnod, township and seat, Eglwysfach par., NW. Denbighshire, 6½ miles N. of Llanrwst.

The location is that marked as "Old Bodnod" on the modern 1:25,000 map.
