In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Pantarfon like this:

PANTARFON, a hamlet in Llanfynydd parish, Carmarthen; 6½ miles N W of Llandilo-fawr.

The location is that marked as "Pant Arfon" on the modern 1:25,000 map.
