The location is where the name "Traps Ground" appears on the 1887 OS 6 inch map ('England - Oxfordshire: 033', Ordnance Survey 1:10,560 - Epoch 1 (1887). URL: http://www.british-history.ac.uk/mapsheet.aspx?compid=55133&sheetid=6740&zm=2&x=368&y=318&ox=2165&oy=2170 Date accessed: 23 January 2011). The 1881 census described Traps Ground as "Land locally situated west of the parish of St. Giles".
