The location is where the name "Traps Ground" appears on the 1887 OS 6 inch map ('England - Oxfordshire: 033', Ordnance Survey 1:10,560 - Epoch 1 (1887). The 1881 census described Traps Ground as "Land locally situated west of the parish of St. Giles".
