CORRIS, or Corys, a township-chapelry, with a village, in Talyllyn parish, Merioneth; under Cader-Idris, 6 miles N by E of Machynlleth r. station. It has a post office, of the name of Corys, under Shrewsbury. Real property, £3, 459; of which £2, 305 are in quarries. Pop., 1, 150. The quarrying of slates, of excellent quality, is extensively carried on. ...
A tram railway goes from the quarries to the Dovey, in Towyn parish; and a railway from this to iron-ore quarries in Dolgelly parish, was authorised in 1864. The living is a vicarage in the dio. of Bangor. Value, £123. Patron, Earl Vane. The church was built in 1860.
