BROWNSHALL, a hamlet and a hundred in Sturminster division, Dorset. The hamlet is in Caundle-Bishop parish, 5½ miles SE of Sherborne; and is an ancient place. The hundred contains Caundle-Bishop parish and three other parishes. Acres, 10,861. Pop., 2,876. Houses, 586.
