Fordoun, par. and ry. sta., Kincardineshire, 3¼ miles NE. of Laurencekirk, 26,869 ac., pop. 1992; P.O., T.O.; John of Fordoun (14th century), author of the Scotochronicon, was a monk at Fordoun.
