Colvend  Kirkcudbrightshire

In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Colvend like this:

Colvend, coast par. and hamlet, SE. Kirkcudbrightshire, 5¼ miles SE. of Dalbeattie and 14½ miles SW. of Dumfries, 18,666 ac., pop. 1281; P.O.

The location is that shown for Colvend on the modern 1:50,000 map, and matches the description given by Groome.
