NEWTON (East), a township in Aldbrough parish, E. R. Yorkshire; on the coast, 8½ miles N E of Hedon. Acres, 630. Real property, £909. Pop., 31. Houses, 5. An hospital was founded here, in 1179, by William Earl of Albemarle.
