COTTINGWITH (East), a township-chapelry in Aughton parish, E. R. Yorkshire; on the river Derwent and the Pocklington canal, 3¼ miles N of Bubwith r. station, and 8½ NE of Selby. Post town, Sutton-on-Derwent, under York. Acres, 1, 140. Real property, £2, 141. Pop., 316. Houses, 75. The property is much subdivided. The living is a p. curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Aughton, in the diocese of York. The church is good; and there are charities £30.
