CALTON, a township in Kirkby-in-Malham-Dale parish, W. R. Yorkshire; on an affluent of the river Aire, near the Midland railway, 7 miles SE by E of Settle. Acres, 1,730. Real property, £1,286. Pop., 56. Houses, 12. General Lambert, one of the parliamentarian leaders in the civil wars, was a native.
