In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Penderi like this:

PENDERRY, a hamlet in Llangafelach parish, Glamorgan; 4¼ miles N of Swansea. Real property, £4, 941; of which £1, 500 are in mines. Pop., 1, 330. Houses, 256.
