OUSE (The Little), or The Brandon, a river of Suffolk and Norfolk. It is formed by two headstreams, the one rising 2½ miles S of Botesdale in Suffolk, the other rising at Lopham fen, 4¾ miles W N W of Diss in Norfolk. It unites these headstreams on the boundary between the counties, 1½ mile E S E of Blo-Norton; it runs about 24 miles westward, along the boundary, past Gasthorpe, Rushford, Thetford, Santon, Brandon, and Hockwold, to a point 4 miles below Hockwold; and it proceeds thence about 5 miles north-westward, within the border of Norfolk, to a confluence with the Ouse at Brandon-Bridge.
