REDMIRE, a township-chapelry, with a small village, in Wensley parish, N. R. Yorkshire; on the river Ure, 4¾ miles W of Leyburn r. station. Post-town, Leyburn, under Bedale. Acres, 2, 219. Real property, £2, 668; of which £50 are in mines. Pop., 440. Houses, 83. The property is much subdivided. The manor belongs to Lord Bolton. Coal is found; lead was formerly mined; and there is a strong sulphurous spring. The living is ap. curacy, united with the chapelry of Bolton, in the diocese of Ripon. Value, £115. Patron, the Rector ofwensley. The church has a Norman doorway. There is an endowed school with £19 a year.
