Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for ROTHER (The)

ROTHER (The), a river of Derbyshire and W. R. Yorkshire; rising near Pilsley, in Derbyshire; and running about 21 miles northward, past Chesterfield, Staveley, and Beighton, to the river Don at Rotherham. It is closely followed, along nearly all its course, by the railway from Derby to Rotherham.
