VALLE-CRUCIS, an ancient Cistertian abbey in Llandysilio parish, Denbigh; in a beautiful dingle, 2 miles NNW of Llangollen. It was founded in 1200, by Madoc ap Gruffydd Maelor; it had a cruciform church, with central tower; and it is now represented by interesting remains of the church, and by a farmhouse embodying the domestic conventual buildings.
