BARHAM COURT, a manor on the river Medway, near East Farleigh r. station, 4½ miles SW of Maidstone, Kent. It belonged to Reginald Fitzurse, the proprietor of Barham manor in Bridge district in the time of A Becket; continued with his descendants, the De Berhams, till the time of James I.; passed to successively the Botilers, the Bouveries, and Sir Charles Middleton, who was created Lord Barham; descended to Lord Bar ham's grandson, the present Earl of Gainsborough; and is now the property and seat of the Right Hon. T. Pemberton Leigh. The mansion on it is modern.
