COWDEN (Great and Little), a township in Mappleton and Aldbrough parishes, E. R. Yorkshire; on the coast, 4 miles SSE of Hornsea. Acres, 1, 750. Real property, £2, 118. Pop., 154. Houses, 34. It was at one time a parish; but the church was washed away by the sea.
