LEICESTER AND SWANNINGTON RAILWAY, a railway in Leicestershire, from Leicester, northwestward to Swannington. It is 16 miles long; is connected with the Midland Counties railway, by a branch from the W neighbourhood of Wratby, to the S neighbourhood of Leicester, and is connected with the North Staffordshire, by a continuous line, from Swannington to Burton-upon-Trent. It forms part of the Midland system.
