LOUTH CANAL, a canal in Lincolnshire; commencing at the town of Louth, and going 14 miles northnorth-eastward to the mouth of the Humber at Tetney lock. It was formed in 1761-3, at a cost of £28,000; it has a fall of 56½ feet; and it gives water-communication from Louth to Hull, and to all the ramifications from the Humber.
