Bowness.-- par. and ry. sta., E. Cumberland, on Solway Firth, at S. end of ry. viaduct, 2½ miles S. of Annan (Scotland) and 12 miles NW. of Carlisle, 1191 ac. and 10,553 foreshore, pop. 1369; P.O., T.O. There are traces of the Roman wall of Severus.
