Tolleshunt Major, par. and vil., Essex, 3 miles W. of Tollesbury and 4½ miles NE. of Maldon, 2272 ac., pop. 405; is sometimes called Beckingham; an embattled gateway remains of the ancient seat of the Beckinghams, erected in time of Henry VIII.
