Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for Landguard Point

Landguard Point, headland forming the most southerly part of Suffolk, at the mouth of river Orwell, 1½ mile SE. of Harwich, separated from the mainland at high water; near its extremity is a lighthouse 48 ft. high, with fixed light (Harwich) 33 ft. above high water and seen 13 miles. Landguard Fort is here.
