Brasted is in Hasted's list of areas which were separate jurisdictions from all hundreds (Hasted, E., 'General history: Divisions of the county', The History and Topographical Survey of the County of Kent: Volume 1 (1797), pp. 250-260; http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=53770, accessed 18th March 2013). Hasted later says "Within [the parish of Brasted] is a district, called the Ville of Brasted, which is a jurisdiction separate from any hundred, having a constable of its own, the remaining part of the parish being the most northern part of it, called Brasted Upland, is in the hundred of Westerham and Eatonbridge.
