Here we are presenting statistics for a historical unit, which may have changed its boundaries significantly during the period covered.

Preferred Name:
CARDIFF ST JOHN AND ST MARY
Unit Type:
Parish-level Unit
Status:
Ancient Parish
Date created:

Date abolished:

Unit ID:
10484029
Authorities:
1851 Census of Great Britain, Table [1], 'Population Abstract'.

Notes:

Between 1811 and 1851 the census parish tables list Cardiff St John and St Mary as a single parish, comprising the whole of the town. In both 1801 and all censuses 1861-1901 the two parishes are listed separately. Perhaps surprisingly Melville Richards does not list 'Cardiff' or 'Caerdydd' as a parish at all, only as a County Borough and as a Rural District, although he does list some chapelries as being within it.
