nCube definition

The 1861 Census of Population provided very detailed occupational statistics for Registration Districts for both men and women aged 20 and over. The specific occupations listed differ between the sexes, but the same system of Occupational Orders was used for both men and women. Note that the Orders include ones for 'Wives, Mothers, ... Children', 'Persons of Rank or Property', and 'Persons supported by the Community', while we have added a final one for persons whose occupation was unknown.
