Pop., 255. Houses, 58. The property is divided among a few. The name Ellisfield is said to have been derived from Ella, the founder of one of the kingdoms of the Heptarchy. ...
Some ancient earth-works exist. The parish is a resort of sportsmen. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester. Value, £295.* Patron, Mrs. Brocas. The church is ancient but good; and has been pronounced unquestionably Saxon.
