WETHERDEN, a parish, with a scattered village, in Stow district, Suffolk; 1½ mile E by S of Elmswell r. station, and 4 NW of Stowmarket. Post town, Stow-market. Acres, 1,830. Real property, £3,273. Pop., 479. Houses, 114. The manor belongs to Lord Thurlow. W. Hall was the seat of the Sulyards, and is now a farmhouse. Uppertown is the seat ofHeigham, Esq. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich. Value, £484.* Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is early English. There are a Baptist chapel, a parochial school, and charities £117.
