CROFTON, a township in Thursby parish, Cumberland; on the river Wampool, adjacent to the Carlisle and Maryport railway, 3¼ miles ENE of Wigton. Acres, 975. Real property, £1, 326. Pop., 105. Houses, 22. Crofton Place is the seat of Sir W. Briscoe, Bart.
