HAXBY, a parish in the district of York and N. R. Yorkshire; on the river Foss, and on the York and Scarborough railway, 4¾ miles NNE of York. It has a station on the railway; and its post-town is Wigginton, under York. Acres, 1,840. Real property, £3,650. Pop., 597. Houses, 132. There are two manors, East End and West End. Bricks and tiles are made. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York. Value, £300. Patron, the Archbishop of York. There is a national school.
