  1. These data are derived from the unpublished 1971 Small Area Statistics, and were extracted from an on-line system at MIMAS.


Notes:

  1. The data were provided for c, 10,000 individual wards based on 1981 boundaries, and aggregated up to approximate 1971 LGDs using information supplied by Danny Dorling (see the documentation for 'age_wards'.
  2. The ward-level data cover the whole of Great Britain, including Scotland, but at present Scottish wards have not had their counties identified and are excluded from the final LGD-level dataset.

adm_cnty_unit Integer number. ID number of the county contaning the district, as defined in the AUO.
g_unit Integer number. ID number of the district, as defined in the AUO.
tot_pop Integer number. Total population.
tot_16up Integer number. Total persons aged 16 and over.
unem Integer number. Unemployed (people seeking work or on a training scheme).
rec_num Integer number. Sequence number keeping rows in the original order.
