FAITH (St.), a parish in Winchester district, Hants; partly within Winchester city; and including the tythings of Bishops-Sparkford and West Sparkford. Pop. in 1851, 892; in 1861, 1, 391. Houses, 228. Pop. of the part within Winchester, 1, 304. Houses, 207. The increase of population arose from the erection of houses on some waste land. The living is a rectory, annexed to the hospital of St. Cross. See Winchester. The county prison is in St. Faith.
