Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for MARWELL, or MARVEL

MARWELL, or MARVEL, a hamlet in Carisbrooke parish, Isle of Wight; on the Medina river, 1¼ mile S of Newport. A college of secular priests was founded here by Henry de Blois, bishop of Winchester.
