Wheathampstead, par. and vil. with ry. sta., Herts - par., 5187 ac., pop. 2319; vil., 5 miles NE. of St Albans and 7 NW. of Hatfield; P.O., T.O.; figured at Domesday as Watamestede, and was (1312) the meeting place of the barons in their war against Edward II.
