Walton on the Naze (or Walton le Soken), small town and par. with ry. sta., Essex, in NE. of co., at terminus of railway, 7 miles S. of Harwich, 18 miles SE. of Colchester and 70 NE. of London by rail, 2146 ac. (45 water) and 1061 tidal water and foreshore, pop. 1371; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank. Walton is a rapidly growing watering-place, with a pier and esplanade, and a fine beach of firm sands affording excellent and safe bathing. It is a local government district. The church is modern, the ancient building, together with the churchyard and nearly all the old village, having been swallowed up by the sea. The cliffs abound in fossils and antediluvian remains.
