Descriptive Gazetteer Entry for St Columb Major

St Columb Major, market town and par., Cornwall, on river Trent, 2½ miles N. of St Columb Road sta. and 9 miles NW. of St Austell, 12,884 ac., pop. 2739; P.O., T.O., called St Columb, 2 Banks. Market-day, Thursday. The town is picturesquely situated on an eminence in the Vale of Lanherne, and is much frequented by parties exploring the coast. The church, a 12th century building, is of great interest.
