Higham Ferrers.-- market town and par. with ry. sta., in co. and 15 miles NE. of Northampton, 2260 ac., pop. 1468; P.O., T.O. Market-day, Saturday; derives its name from its ancient lords, the family of Ferrers. Bootmaking and the mfr. of bobbin lace are its industries. Higham Ferrers was a parl. bor. until 1832.
